Rapper, Illbliss, Tenders Public Apology Over His Comment About Igbos Owning Lands In Lagos

Nigerian rapper, Tobechukwu Melvin Ejiofor popularly known as Ill Bliss  has issued a public apology following a social media altercation regarding the economic contribution of the Igbo ethnic group in Lagos. The controversy began when Illbliss asserted that the Igbos have contributed immensely to the economic development of Lagos state especially in the real estate sector and declared that anyone with a contrary opinion should go hug a transformer.

Expectedly, this comment drew the ire of Lagosians who insisted that Illbliss and other Igbos who do not respect Lagos should leave Lagos and head back to their erosion filled land in the east.

Infuriated by the remark, Illbliss countered: “We bought all your land and will resell to you.”

Following widespread backlash, the musician took to his Instagram page on Monday morning, June 15,  to express regret. He apologised for the tone of his response, clarifying that it was not intended to disrespect Lagos.

"I am sorry if my comment appeared brash," Illbliss stated, acknowledging that Lagos State has accommodated the Igbo people and supported their art, businesses, and growth for decades.
