Pastor Chris Okafor, often always, has a disarming smile on his
face that endears him to people meeting him for the first time. This widely
acclaimed Oracle of God wears no arrogant toga despite his enormous
accomplishments as a minister of God. He carries himself with utmost simplicity.
He goes about his business without any chips on his shoulder. If you didn’t
know him before, you would find it hard to believe he’s the same popular Pastor
that shepherds the multimillion naira ministry called Liberation City.
Last week, this celebrated Prophet of God celebrated his mother’s
birthday with a profound and heartfelt tribute. In his
congratulatory message, Dr. Chris Okafor lauded his Mentor, Mother and
everything in Life, Mrs. Grace Okafor, a quintessential Dependable and woman
after God’s heart, as “a builder of dreams, a promoter of good causes, and a
compassionate aged woman, always driven by what benefits humanity.”
He described her as a beacon of inspiration and exemplary womanhood, a
testament to her tireless efforts to uplift society and an opportunity to
celebrate her remarkable impact. He said “I’m honored to celebrate you on your
special day, recognizing your remarkable achievements in motherhood and I’m
proud to be part of your legacy as one of your illustrious”
“On behalf of our family, Home and Abroad, Grace Nation Citizens and a
multitude of well-wishers, I offer heartfelt congratulations to an outstanding
mother who has made a profound, positive impact on numerous lives, wishing her
sustained happiness and prosperity.”
“Big congratulations, Ma, so grateful and proud to have you as a mother, you
will continue to enjoy the fruit of your Labour Mummy, Almighty God will bless
your new age with Good health and abundant blessings mummy,” the Generational
Prophet of God, Dr. Chris Okafor remarked.
This is not the first time Pastor Chris Okafor is publicly celebrating his mother. He has always celebrated his parents, never holding back his adoration and appreciation of their impact in his life. But he shares something really special with his mother, a bond that only exists between a loving son and a cherished mother. It is often said within the inner circle of Pastor Chris, that if you know you have done something really bad to upset him, simply go and tell Mama to speak to him on your behalf, and you’re forgiven. He simply does not have the heart to deny his mother anything she requests of him, that is how much she adores and respects her. The man does not joke with his beloved mother, she means the world to him. His love for her is also clearly evident in her fresh and radiant look, he takes great care of his parents, he spares no expenses when it comes to their well being.
For those who may not understand why this handsome looking man of God cherishes his mother the way he does, the special bond between them did not start today, it started even before Pastor Chris Okafor was born.
Sometime ago when he was asked to share a bit of his background, Pastor Chris recalled the difficult moments his mother endured before his birth and how she shaped him into becoming who he is today.“I think,
for me, it’s always been like, this is what you have been assigned to do, this
is what you have been destined to do,” he recounted. “There were a lot of
divine occasions surrounding this. Before my mother gave birth to me, it was
only a son my mother had.”
“After the
son, there were three girls. So, there was a lot of pressure, even though my
dad came from a poor home, it was just him and his brother and his brother had
seven children, all male. So, there were pressures. They told my dad, since
your wife cannot give you another son, go and marry another woman.
My mother endured the pain and began to pray and wait on the Lord. One day, they went for a crusade and an
elderly prophet was ministering. Then, he said, that woman over there, and he
brought my mother out from a mammoth crowd. He sad you have been crying,
begging God for a son, she said, yes.
He continued
further: “The translation of my native name means the light of God. There’s no
name that was given to me by my own parents that was of their own making, or
because they felt, oh, I will like my son to bear so and so name, no. So, that
was the prophecy.
And even
after that, a few other prophets would meet her on the way and say to her, you
are going to have a son. Eventually, she became pregnant, she did not even have
to go for scan. So, when my mother became pregnant, she would go and buy this
portrait they widely believed is the picture of Jesus Christ. She bought the
portrait and would always put it on her womb, saying, Lord, since you already
said I will have a son and that he would be a prophet, I want him to be just
like Jesus.
This went on
until the day she delivered me. And they were already told they would have a
son whose name shall be Ihechukwu, meaning the light of God. So, this brought
about my name, the light of God and my English name, Christian. So, the whole
thing was not my making or anybody’s making.”
Pastor Chris
added: “If I had my way, I would’ve loved to be a business man. I was told the
prophet also said I would be a prophet and would start to prophesy from the age
of eight. I remember going with my parents to a crusade by the late Arch Bishop
Benson Idahosa of blessed memory.”
“Then, I
received the Holy ghost, I received our Lord Jesus Christ as my personal Lord
and Saviour as a child. It was at that age of eight that God started to use me
to speak to people, to prophesy to people. I grew up and it continued till I
finished my primary, secondary education and went to the University. But credit
to my mother, she guided me in those early days as a child and enabled me grow
up in the way of the Lord. She followed the prophecy given to her about my
birth to the letter.”
